I know they do not for the US.

I know they do for Europe/Australia.

In Canada, is an ID needed to verify an account or do they do it by bank deposits?

Thanks,

If you are thinking of opening a second Neteller account with a
Canadian address, i think Neteller only allows you to have one.

Neteller already told me I could change to Canada with a Canadian bank and address, but I am concerned they will ask for ID.

Clearly more than one person in the world has the same name, so that is not an issue anyways..

Xpanda,

I think I'm gonna marry you. That is the happiest news I have heard about this industry in about 6 months!!!

How do they verify the account? Is it EFT like in the states?

Do they require any national numbers like a social security number, etc - something I would not have!

Thanks in advance.

I don't recall having to give any ID at all, not even online. I deposited using my credit card, so the two billing addresses had to match, but that's it. I've since moved and didn't require validation of my new address. No Social Insurance number or anything like that.

To withdraw direct to my bank account, I had to verify the account itself. They deposited a few cents, and I had to state the exact amount of the deposit.

That was it.

I've never had a problem with deposits, withdrawals, or using my NETeller debit card.

If opening a Canadian neteller account will it be business as usual? If so how can you not do it? According to an earlier thread there is a possibility you need not go in person to some banks. Does anyone know of a bank in Canada where opening an account can be done by phone and or e-mail.?

From neteller:

Thank you for your email. To change of residency, there are several criteria that must be meet:

1) you must reside at the country at which your address is registered in
2) account certification documents are required and they are as follows:
- government issued idenitification ( driver license, identification card, passport)
- statement with your address and name (bank statement, credit card statement, phone bill or utility bill)
3) phone confirmation must be completed at the phone number registered in your NETeller account upon activation.

You may email all documents to addesschanges@Neteller.com

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you for choosing NETeller.

Dave, I think that applies to people changing their address. Someone simply opening up a new account shouldn't have to jump thru those hoops. I sure didn't.

That in mind, they may have changed their policy given the new environment, I can't say for sure.

If they link your new account with your old one they will both get locked and you will need to show documentation of your addy change.

You can only have one (lol) account with Neteller.

Doesn't Neteller call to verify phone number? So an American would have to talk with Neteller while in Canada?

How can they require passport, drivers liscense, or ID card...? You could be living in one country but be a citizen of another and not have those things....
